Professor Isaac Mwanzo is an Associate Professor of Anthropology of Health in the Department of Family Medicine, Community Health, and Epidemiology of Kenyatta University. His expertise lies in the intersection of health, culture, and society, with a particular focus on the social and behavioral determinants of health. His research spans several Eastern African countries and encompasses a broad range of public health concerns, including Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), Drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, Maternal and child health, Health Promotion and Health Education, Qualitative research methods, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate change, the ethical dimensions of health research and Community-oriented interventions. In addition to his research, Prof. Mwanzo has made significant contributions to curriculum development, having designed and reviewed programs across a spectrum of academic levels—from certificate and diploma programs to postgraduate degrees. He is deeply committed to academic mentorship and has guided numerous students through their academic and professional journeys. His scholarly work is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting both the depth and impact of his contributions to the field. He also serves as the coordinator for postgraduate studies and oversees the community experience program for undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health. In this role, he fosters student engagement with real-world public health issues, bridging classroom learning with community practice.
